How to Register for the NCLEX-RN exam in New Jersey

The NCLEX-RN exam is given by the National State Council Boards of Nursing NSCBN in the United States. In order to be a licensed registered nurse in the state of New Jersey, you have to register for and take this exam. You also have to pass it before you can start working as a registered nurse.

Instructions

  1. Send your credentials.

    To sit for the NCLEX-RN exam, you have to show the NSCBN that you have successfully graduated from nursing school. Go to your schools nursing department and ask them to send your transcripts to the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.

  2. Get the application packet.

    Go to the New Jersey Consumer affairs website and download the application packet for licensing as a registered nurse in the sate of New Jersey. You will find a link to the website in the resources section.

    Go to the Pearson Vue website and register with them to sit for the NCLEX exam. Pearson Vue is the company that the NSCBN uses to administer the NCLEX exam.

  2. Authorization to Test

    You will receive a letter about being eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam called an Authorization to Test from the New Jersey State Board of Nursing. Once you get it, visit the pearson vue website to schedule a date for your NCLEX-RN exam. You can make the scheduling online on their website or call them and schedule over the phone.You will find the phone number on their website which you will find in the resource section of this article.

  3. Background Check

    To work as a registered nurse in New Jersey, you need to go through a background check. You will receive mail from the sate board of Nursing instructing you on where to go to begin your background check process. You dont have to do this before you take the NCLEX exam but you have to finish it before you can work as a registered nurse if you pass the NCLEX-RN exam.

  • Apply to both the board of nursing and Pearson Vue at the same time so you can shorten the processing time of your application.

  • Make sure your nursing school sends your credentials to the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
